Gorgeous Hollywood brunette who played out Hepzibah Pyncheon in the 1940 film adaptation of the home from the Seven Gables. She had taken benefit of Hollywood’s desire for all things British isles by hanging out in England, dealing with a British highlight, and changing her last name compared to that from the U.S. ambassador to Britain. Her newfound British “traditions” was more than enough to earn her mostly of the acting opportunities obtainable through the Great Unhappiness: a job in Fox’s film version of Noel Coward’s Cavalcade. She was created to a pharmacist dad in Dubuque, Iowa, and was the oldest of six kids. Her delivery name was Margaret Kies. She acted contrary Bette Davis in the 1938 film Jezebel.
