Margaret Ayer Barnes

An American playwright, brief story writer, and novelist, she actually is particularly known on her behalf 1928 dramatization of Edith Wharton’s popular novel, Age Innocence. Barnes can be remembered on her behalf 1930 book, Years of Elegance, which received the Pulitzer Reward. She graduated from Bryn Mawr University in 1907 and consequently worked because the college’s alumnae movie director. Her 1935 book, Edna, His Wife, was modified right into a stage play by Cornelia Otis Skinner. She wedded Cecil Barnes in 1910. Among the couple’s three sons, Edward Larrabee Barnes, became a prominent architect. Her dramatization of Edith Wharton’s book, Age Innocence, was the foundation for any 1934 film of the same name.
