A Canadian poet and novelist known on her behalf bleak, dystopian work, The Handmaid’s Tale, she was shortlisted for the Booker Prize five occasions. Her additional well-known works consist of Cat’s Vision, Oryx and Crake, and Surfacing. She 1st released her poetry while their studies at the University or college of Toronto’s Victoria University. She later trained at the University or college of English Columbia, Sir George Williams University or college in Montreal, as well as the University or college of Alberta. She was granted a Guggenheim fellowship. She was wedded to Jim Polk from 1968-1973. She and her partner, Graeme Gibson, welcomed their child, Eleanor, in 1976. She received the Arthur C. Clarke award on her behalf book The Handmaid’s Story.
