The recipient of NAACP Picture and BET Comedy Awards on her behalf television writing focus on the series Girlfriends, she also contributed to episodes of South Central, Moesha, as well as the Jamie Foxx Display. After going to Raytown South SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in Missouri, she gained a qualification in journalism from Northwestern College or university (in Illinois). From 2009, she became a member of the creation and writing groups of ABC’s Cougar City. Though created in LA, she grew up in Kansas Town. She was raised inside a Muslim family members and later wedded Sufi Muslim movie director Salim Akil. She and Akil welcomed sons Yasin and Nasir in 2007 and 2009, respectively. She and Frasier acting professional Kelsey Grammer co-created and created UPN’s Girlfriends.
