Known for such acclaimed brief tale collections as Types of Disturbance and Break It Down, she was a finalist for the 2007 Country wide Book Award as well as for the 1986 Pencil/Hemingway Award. She graduated from Barnard University and later trained at both NY University as well as the Condition University of NY at Albany.
