Ranchero style vocalist and film celebrity who was among Mexico’s most enduring performers. Gaining prominence through skill contests in her youngsters, she got her initial big strike in 1961 using a rendition of “Mass media Vuelta.” She became a film superstar in the 1965 feature Un Gallo de Oro and continuing making ranchero movies. Delivered Luz Elena Ruíz Bejarano, she was presented with the stage name Lucha Villa honoring the notorious Mexican outlaw Pancho Villa. The type of impact Villa got on Ranchero music was parallel towards the impact Lalo Gurerrero got in the Chicano style.
