Louise Thaden

American pilot who established many altitude and endurance records and earned the esteemed Bendix trophy. Her work as a product sales representative using a Kansas flights company provided her the chance to take free of charge traveling lessons. She gained the esteemed Bendix Transcontinental Surroundings Competition of 1936, gaining $4,500 on her behalf first place surface finish and yet another $2,500 to be the first feminine winner from the competition. Her pilot and engineer hubby, Herbert von Thaden, helped her style her record-breaking planes. She was a pal of fellow aviator Amelia Earhart.
