Biography

Leading lady in the 1940s who became known on her behalf roles in my own Darling Clementine as well as the Tag of Zorro. Her additional films consist of Forever Amber and Unfaithfully Yours. She was 11 years of age when she began finding are a model, although she pretended to become 16. She was granted a Star around the Hollywood Walk of Popularity in 1960. She used a daughter called Charlotte during her 1st marriage. She wedded her third spouse, Merle Roy Robertson, in 1963. She co-starred with Ann Sothern in the Oscar-winning 1949 episode A Notice to Three Wives.

1Tuptim, her character in Anna and the King of Siam (1946), was executed by being burned at the stake. In real life, Linda died at age 41 from burns received in a house fire.
2Acted as a witness at close friend Lana Turner's wedding to Stephen Crane.
3In Italy, almost all her films were dubbed by either Lidia Simoneschi or Dhia Cristiani. Only once was she dubbed by Paola Barbara: in The Mark of Zorro (1940).
4Mother of Charlotte Mildred Adams (nicknamed Lola). Born on January 5, 1948; adopted in 1948 while Darnell was married to J. Peverell Marley.
5Suffered from alcoholism during most of her career.
6Died in a fire of unknown source while visiting friends. While sleeping upstairs and awakened by smoke, she tried to exit through the downstairs door, but was trapped.
