Leftist Singaporean politician who all co-founded the People’s Actions Party in 1954, and was jailed for leading violent riots. He was expelled from college for his actions using the Anti-British Group. He was a trade union head and frequently led labor protests. He proceeded to go into exile in London along with his family members upon released from jail but came back to Singapore in 1979. He and Lee Kuan Yew founded the People’s Actions Party.
