Les Elgart

Golf swing and jazz trumpeter and bandleader. He produced the Les & Larry Elgart Outfit with his sibling, Larry, and released almost thirty recordings between 1954 and 1968. He started his profession as a specialist trumpeter by playing for bandleaders Charlie Spivak, Raymond Scott, and Harry Adam. He toured with jazz guitarist Ralph Patt. He and his youthful sibling, Larry Elgart, was raised in Connecticut. Les Elgart passed away in Tx at age seventy-seven. His well-known “Bandstand Boogie” became the theme melody for Dick Clark’s American Bandstand plan.
