Laura Bridgman

American woman who’s notable to be considered the 1st deaf-blind child in American history to received significant formal education in the British language. She became world-famous after Charles Dickens published glowingly about her in his 1842 publication American Records. She was remaining deaf and blind after contracting scarlet fever at age two. She was initially taught to make use of sign vocabulary by family members friend Asa Tenney. In her old age, she taught youthful blind girls how exactly to sew in the Perkins College. She experienced sisters called Mary and Collina and a brother called Addison. She received her education fifty years before Helen Keller.
