Became the 1st black participant to ever play in the American Group in 1947 when he became a member of the Cleveland Indians; performed a complete of 13 years in the AL. He was a good basketball participant in senior high school, making a scholarship or grant to Long Isle University. He handled the Chicago White colored Sox in 1978, getting the second BLACK ever to control a major little league baseball team. He previously five children along with his wife Helyn. He broke in to the majors using the Cleveland Indians under supervisor Lou Boudreau.
