Kitty Kallen


Big music group singer from the 1940s who had a #1 hit with “Small Things Mean a whole lot.” She received first prize inside a skill competition in her youngsters, imitating the favorite singers of your day; her award was a camera, but her dad believed she stole it. In her teenage years, she sang with Jimmy Dorsey’s music group, releasing the strike “Besame Mucho” and immediately after becoming a strike on radio and a favorite take action in nightclubs. She was wedded double: her 1st relationship was to Clint Garvin, nonetheless it was annulled after significantly less than annually. For a short while early in her profession she was the roommate of another youthful starlet, Dinah Shoreline.

1 The two major bands that she is most closely associated with are actually those of Harry James (succeeding Helen Forrst) and Jimmy Dorsey (following Helen O'Connell). Her hits with those bands included "It's Been a Long, Long time," "Besame Mucho," "They're Either Too Young or Too Old" and "I'm Beginning to See the Light.".
2 She was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 7021 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
3 She was one of the top female vocalists during the Big Band era. She appeared with Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey, among others, and is featured on many of the biggest hits of the era. In addition, during the Fifties she had several solo hits including "My Coloring Book," "In the Chapel in the Moonlight," and the-over-a-million seller (at a time when selling a million records was really an accomplishment) "Little Things Mean a Lot."
