Well-known for his work in the exotic and vallenato music genres, he earned a 2012 Latin Grammy for Le Canta a San Jacinto, aswell as 4 Congo de Oro awards for his previous work. He started his profession by performing along with his father’s group Juan Pina and Children and continued to determine, together with his sibling Carlos, a music group known as La Orquesta de los Hermanos Pina. He collaborated with Joe Arroyo on many recordings. The kid of Juan de la Cruz Pina and Blanca Rosa Valderrama, he spent his youngsters in San Marcos, Sucre, Colombia. He afterwards fathered seven kids (all young ladies). He and fellow Colombian vocalist Carlos Vives both gained Latin Grammy Honours for their function.
