Remembered preferred for holding office in the first 1820s as seventh Governor of NY, this Democratic-Republican Party politician was also the president of New York’s Schenectady Cost savings Mortgage lender and a founder and trustee of Union University. He started his political profession as Mayor of Schenectady, NY, and continued to serve in both New York Condition Senate and the brand new York Supreme Courtroom. He was the initial and, by the first 21st Century, just NY Governor to have already been born and elevated in Schenectady State. His three relationships — to Ann Ellice, Maria Kane, and Elizabeth DeLancey — led to daughters called Helen Maria, Anna Alida, and Jane Jesepha. He offered as an elector in the U . S presidential competition of 1828, where Andrew Jackson eventually defeated the incumbent John Quincy Adams.
