By enough time she was an adolescent, she had made an appearance in both music hall and pantomime shows. She produced her London Western End theatre debut inside a 1908 creation from the Antelope. She starred in the 1933 English musical film Facing the Music. She was raised in London as the child of Lottie Collins, a music hall performer. She performed with Ann Pennington in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1913.
