Well-known for his work in the first music genre, this musician and composer re-introduced the Baroque and Renaissance instrument the viola da gamba in to the contemporary Spanish musical repertoire. During the period of his profession, he was nominated for just two Grammy Honours and was the receiver of the Handel and Leonie Sonning Music Awards. After learning early music on the Barcelona Conservatory of Music, he trained on the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In the past due 1980s, he founded an early on music ensemble referred to as La Capella Reial de Catalunya. Through the 1990s, he constructed music for six movies, including Joan the Maiden: Parts 1 and 2. He and his wife, soprano vocalist Montserrat Figueras, produced a musical ensemble known as Hesperion XX. He and Enrique Granados are both well-known Spanish traditional composers.
