John Wellborn Root

19th-century American architect whose structures have been specified Nationwide Historical and Chicago Landmarks and possess been entered in to the Nationwide Register of Historical Locations. Known for co-founding the Chicago College style of structures. He was granted the AIA Platinum Medal in 1958. He graduated from NY University or college in 1869 and 1st worked with Wayne Renwick, Jr., after that with John Butler Snook. His period with Snook allowed him to provide as a building supervisor on Warren and Wetmore’s Grand Central Terminal. He passed away of pneumonia while focusing on programs for the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. His dad, the famed planter Sidney Main, delivered him and two additional boys to Britain after Atlanta dropped towards the Union Military through the Civil Battle. His maternal uncle was Marshall Johnson Wellborn, after whom he was called. His child, John Main Jr., also utilized structures in Chicago. He was Daniel Burnham’s partner.
