John Luke


Northern Irish designer whose early painting Carnival gained the eye of influential artwork critics. He was known to be meticulous and exact both in his artwork and in his appearance. He gained the Dunville Scholarship or grant to wait London’s Slade College of Artwork in 1927, where he was trained by Henry Tonks. His 1st two paintings to become exhibited had been Entombment and Carnival at Leger Galleries. His creative work was imprinted inside a 2012 anthology released by the Country wide Museum of North Ireland and entitled Northern Tempo: The Artwork of John Luke (1906-1975). He grew up in Belfast with six brothers and something sister by Wayne and Sarah Luke. He was influenced by the task of Roger Fry .
