John Lingard

Kept in mind for his multi-volume scholarly function THE ANNALS of England, through the First Invasion from the Romans towards the Accession of Henry VIII (1819), this early nineteenth-century historian and priest can be notable because the author of the Roman Catholic hymn “Hail Queen of Heaven, the Ocean Star.” After teaching for the priesthood at Douai, France’s British College, he released one of is own earliest functions: Catholic Devotion Vindicated (1805).
