John L. May

American clergyman from the Roman Catholic Church who was simply the Archbishop of St. Louis from 1980 to 1992. He examined theology at St. Mary of Lake Seminary in Mundelein in the 1940’s. A huge proponent of racial tranquility, he ordained J. Terry Steib as St. Louis’ initial BLACK auxiliary bishop. He grew up in Evanston, Illinois by his parents Peter and Catherine. He was produced the 6th Archbishop of St. Louis, Missouri, by Pope John Paul II in 1980.
