John Hench

Biography

Animator, storyboard designer, special effects designer, and art movie director who also worked for The Walt Disney Organization for six years. He was Mickey Mouse’s recognized portrait designer and was in charge of the mouse’s recognized 25th, 50th, 60th, 70th, and 75th birthday portraits. He analyzed at several artwork schools, like the Artwork Students Little league of NY, the Otis University of Artwork and Style in LA, the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Artwork Institute, as well as the Chouinard Artwork Institute in LA. He helped to create the huge, hydraulic squid in “20,000 Leagues Beneath the Ocean.” His focus on this film gained him an Academy Award for Greatest Special Results. He was created in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and wedded his wife, Lowry, in 1937. He not merely worked well for Walt Disney, but also resembled Disney a lot that he was frequently recognised incorrectly as him. He was offered the Disney Tale award in 1990 by Michael Eisner.

2At Disney, he started out as a sketch artist on "Fantasia", later moving on to story editing, layout, and special effects for "Peter Pan" and "Cinderella".
3In 1946, surrealist Salvador Dali agreed to collaborate with Disney on a cartoon. Disney assigned Hench to the project. Since Dali spoke no English at the time, he and Hench conversed in French. It premiered at the 2003 New York Film Festival.
