Biography

Through the early nineteenth century, he offered as Vice President of america beneath the presidential administrations of John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. He also offered his home condition of SC in america Senate, and from 1844 to 1845 kept any office of U.S. Secretary of Condition. Before getting into politics like a supporter — or “Battle Hawk” — from the Battle of 1812, Calhoun graduated from Yale University and continued to wait Connecticut’s Tapping Reeve Regulation College. In the past due 1820s, he allied himself using the South Carolina-based Nullifier Party, which wanted to protect areas’ privileges against federal government control. Following a 1832 Nullification Problems, he was pressured to resign his vice presidential workplace. Created in Abbeville, SC, to Martha Caldwell and Patrick Calhoun, John C. Calhoun wedded his cousin Floride Bonneau Colhoun. The union created seven surviving kids: Andrew, Anna, Patrick, John, Martha, Wayne, and William. U.S. Chief executive Wayne Monroe appointed Calhoun Secretary of Battle in 1817.
