Joaquin Miller

American “Poet from the Sierras” who’s remembered for Pacific Poems, An Elk Hunt, and additional western-themed works. He’s also known for his 1886 book, The Damage of Gotham, which includes a prostitute like a protagonist. He relocated from Indiana to California through the era from the California Gold Hurry. His delivery name was Cincinnatus Heine Miller; Joaquin Miller was his pencil name. He wedded Abigail Leland in 1763. He was affected by Harriet Beecher Stowe.
