Swiss businessman most widely known because the founder of Swiss and Spanish soccer clubs like FC Barcelona, FC Basel and FC Zurich. FC Barcelona’s Joan Gamper Trophy was called in his honor in 1966. He was a devoted sportsman who performed a number of sports activities, including rugby, golfing and tennis. The town of Barcelona called a street within the Les Corts region, Carrer de Joan Gamper, after him. He wedded Emma Pilloud in 1907 and acquired children called Marcel and Joan-Ricard. FC Barcelona was house to many renowned players under his view, including Ricardo Zamora.
