Novelist and ex – Kentucky poet laureate whose Appalachian-themed functions include Hold Apr and Taps for Personal Tussie. During the period of his profession, he also released nearly 500 short tales. He examined at both Lincoln Memorial School and Vanderbilt School. His first book, Trees and shrubs of Heaven, exemplifies his rural thematic concentrate and linguistic sparseness. He wedded Naomi Deane Norris, a schoolteacher, in 1939.
