Well-known for her 1971 hit “Mr. Big Stuff,” this spirit, funk, and tempo & blues vocalist also have scored Billboard Sizzling hot 100 entries with “My Toot Toot” and “YOU IMAGINE You’re Sizzling hot Stuff.” She started her music profession being a singer in a Louisiana club possessed by her cousin and shortly attracted the eye of music manufacturer Huey Meaux. She released a 1997 compilation record titled THE MOST EFFECTIVE of Me. Blessed Jean Caliste, she was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received a 1971 Grammy nomination, but eventually lost the prize to fellow R&B vocalist Aretha Franklin.
