An Indian screenwriter, poet, and lyricist known for his efforts to Indian music and Bollywood movies, he is most well-known for his cooperation with Salim Khan. His solo-written cinematic functions consist of Duniya, Mashaal, and Saagar. His dad, Jan Nisar Akhtar, was also a poet and Bollywood musical composer. His mom, Safia Akhtar, was a vocalist. He elevated his kids as atheists, relative to his own values. Along with his wife, Honey Irani, he previously two kids, Zoya and Farhan. His affair with Shabana Azmi finished his relationship to Irani; he ultimately wedded Azmi. He and Salim Khan co-wrote several film scripts in the 1970s and 1980s.
