The wife of poet Yvor Winters, she was also a poet and novelist in her own right. Her best-known functions are the Wife of Martin Guerre as well as the Indians within the Woods. She went to the School of Chicago and afterwards taught at both School of California-Berkeley and Stanford School. She was an associate from the School of Chicago’s Poetry Membership. She and Yvor Winters had been wedded in 1926. Jointly, they set up a literary newspaper known as Gyroscope. Edith Thomas was another prominent feminine poet.
