James P. Johnson

Biography

Most widely known for The Charleston and when I Could End up being With You (1 HOUR Tonight). He added much towards the advancement of ragtime and jazz. He began like a pianist in summer season resorts, theatres, movies, and nightclubs. He was posthumously inducted in to the Songwriters Hall of Popularity in 1970. He shifted with his family members to San Juan Hill in NEW YORK in 1908. He was raised hearing Scott Joplin.
