American Cardinal from the Roman Catholic Church who was simply the Archbishop of Washington, D.C. from 1980 to 2000. He graduated as valedictorian from Sacred Center Main Seminary in Detroit in 1942. He was a vocal opposition against then Leader Ronald Reagan’s insurance policies in Un Salvador and thought that military involvement was contrary to the country’s needs. His dad was a dental practitioner who frequently helped those that couldn’t afford dentistry. He was raised towards the cardinalate by Pope John Paul II in 1988.
