Biography

The first BLACK baseball player in the key leagues, he helped the Brooklyn Dodgers win the Globe Series in 1955 and won the Country wide Group MVP award in 1949. He was inducted in to the Football Hall of Popularity in 1962. He became a member of a gang to fight the exclusion of blacks in Cairo, Georgia, but his friend Carl Anderson confident him to place his energy somewhere else. He was drafted right into a cavalry device in Fort Riley, Kansas, where in fact the race-neutral Officer Applicant School recognized his program. In 1997, his #42 shirt was retired by all main group groups. His legacy was additional honored using the launch of Jackie Robinson Time, where every participant across the group wears #42. He was wedded to Rachel Robinson from 1946 until his loss of life. He previously three children: Sharon, David and Jackie Jr. He was an integral player for the Dodgers through the 1955 World Series, defeating Mickey Mantle as well as the Yankees in seven games.
