Jack Coombs

Perhaps one of the most dominant pitchers from the deadball period, he amassed 31 wins in 1910, leading the Philadelphia Athletics towards the American Group pennant. He performed baseball, aswell as golf and soccer, at Colby University in Maine, and designed to head to MIT to review chemistry when persuaded to provide baseball a go. He was among only twelve roughly pitchers over the complete 20th hundred years to record 30 wins within a period; and among various other records, had one of the most innings pitched within a video game, with 24. He was created in LeGrand, Iowa, a farming community near Des Moines. Connie Mack was the supervisor from the Philadelphia Athletics, for whom Coombs pitched, and his sibling first confident Coombs to become listed on the team.
