Igor Sikorsky

Russian-born developer and aviation pioneer who designed and flew the world’s 1st multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft, the Russky Vityaz, in 1913. He also founded the Sikorsky Airplane Company in 1923, where he created a number of the 1st flying motorboats in the 1930’s. Viewing little potential customer in his indigenous nation torn by trend and battle, he emigrated to america in 1919. In 1939 he designed and flew the Vought-Sikorsky VS-300, that was the 1st practical American helicopter ever developed. Both his parents had been doctors, though his mom never practiced appropriately. He wedded Elisabeth Semion in 1924. Though he constructed the 1st flying helicopter, the idea for it will go completely back again to Leonardo Da Vinci.
