He had written well-known screenplays like Edison the person (tale, 1940), Blossoms in the Dirt (1941), Lassie GET BACK (1943) as well as the Southerner (1945). He was a journalist and playwright before shifting to america to become screenwriter. He and his wife shifted to Mexico for thirteen years after getting blacklisted, however they continued to create screenplays throughout that time. He wedded celebrity and screenwriter Jean Rouverol. He had written The Tale of Lylah Claire, which starred Kim Novak.
