He started playing football part-time on weekends as he was functioning at a textile mill, but was after that offered a agreement with the Chicago Light Stockings in 1888. He earned the National Group Triple Crown in 1894. He and his wife Nora resided in Massachusetts until her loss of life in 1953. He became a member of fellow Hall of Famer Cover Anson in the Chicago Light Stockings in 1888.
