American poet, educational, translator, and literary critic known for Medusa in Gramercy Recreation area, Another Look, and additional works. He was a 1965 receiver of the exclusive Bollingen Reward. He studied in the University or college of Wisconsin and later on taught British at Sarah Lawrence University. He released his debut poetry collection, Chelsea Rooming Home, in 1930. His poems frequently concentrate on the bleakness of the present day panorama. He wed Marya Zaturenska, a fellow poet, in 1925. The few raised two kids. He was a literary modern of fellow American poet/scholar Ann Stanford.
