Hernando Desoto


16th-century Spanish conquistador who was simply the first recorded person to cross the Mississippi River while looking for silver and gold. He 1st sailed to America in 1514 using the governor of Panama. He explored THE UNITED STATES buying passing to China and reserves of platinum. His parents had been hidalgos, a kind of non-titled nobility. He wedded Isabel de Bobadilla. He asked Charles V for control of Guatemala, but was presented with governorship of Cuba rather.
