One of the biggest boxers from the 1940s, he held 3 different boxing championships at exactly the same time. He converted pro after failing woefully to make it for the 1932 U.S. Olympic boxing group. Both Bert Sugars and The Band magazine rated him as the second-greatest fighter in the 20th hundred years. His dad was a sharecropper and his mom was an Iroquois Indian. Sugars Ray Robinson was mostly of the boxers who defeated him.
