Doctor who have co-developed the Blalock-Taussig shunt, a method that saved countless newborns through the deadly blue baby symptoms. She overcame solid dyslexia in her years as a child, only using her willpower and the individual tutoring of her dad. She worked thoroughly with prominent U.S. doctor Alfred Blalock to master and demonstrate the technique. Her mom passed away when Helen was 11, and she was henceforth elevated by her dad. She was honored the Presidential Medal of Independence by Leader Lyndon B. Johnson.
