Hazel Scott

Biography

One of the biggest pianists of her period who all became a mainstay over the jazz picture, challenging conceptions about blacks and females. She was provided a scholarship towards the Juilliard College of Music when she was nine years of age. She sang anything that emerged her method, from show music to Broadway music. She was wedded to Rev. Adam Clayton Powell Jr., a observed politician, until 1956. She added just as much as Billie Vacation and Lena Horne do towards the advancement of African-American females.
