An American journalist and humorist, he’s known for Low Man on the Totem Pole, a global War II-era bestselling humor book. He released his autobiography, To Hell within a Handbasket, in 1962. He lowered out of senior high school and started doing work for the Huntington Press in the first 1920s. He afterwards worked as an attribute writer for the brand new York World-Telegram. He stated to took the very first legal beverage once Prohibition was repealed. He was created in Illinois and grew up in Ohio and Indiana. In 1927, he wedded Nelle Mae Simpson. He and Michael Herr both had written for Esquire mag.
