Nicknamed “Vishy” and regarded among the finest Indian batsman from the 1970’s, he produced 91 Test appearances from 1969 to 1983. He produced his Check debut against Australia in 1969 and documented a duck, producing him among the hardly any batsman to take action in his initial Check. He was honored the Col. C K Naidu Life time Achievement Award, among the highest honors in cricket, in ’09 2009. He includes a son called Daivik. His Indian group dropped the 1982-83 Check series against Pakistan and their remarkable bowler Imran Khan.
