Grigory Sokolov

Regarded as among Russia’s very best pianists. He was well-known in the U.S. actually at the elevation of tensions through the Chilly War. He 1st gained worldwide acclaim when he received the Platinum Medal in the 1966 International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition by unanimous vote from the jury. His prolific U.S. touring profession from the 1970s was hindered in the 1980s from the Chilly War, particularly when both countries terminated all social agreements. His family members recognized his skills in early stages, and he started acquiring lessons at age group five and signed up for Leningrad Conservatory when he was seven.
