Poet most widely known on her behalf first collection, We is a Long-Memoried Girl, which took the 1983 Commonwealth Poetry Award. She’s since published greater than a dozen of prize winning series of poems and brief stories. She gained a qualification in communications in the School of Guyana and spent the years pursuing working being a instructor and journalist until she transferred to the uk in 1977. Beyond her poetry, she also released a book in 1986 entitled Whole of the Morning hours Sky. She was created and elevated in Georgetown, Guyana but ultimately resolved in Lewes, Britain with her partner and fellow poet John Agard. In 2011, she was a judge in the panel from the Anthologise poetry competition, a meeting captained by poetry modern Carol-Ann Duffy.
