Known for rescuing survivors from the shipwrecked vessel Forfarshire in 1838. She discovered the dispatch from her bedroom, that was situated in the lighthouse her dad owned. She grew up as the seventh of nine kids. On the initial trip, she and her dad rescued four guys as well as the lone making it through girl, Mrs. Dawson, through the Forfarshire. Her dad William rowed a 21 foot, 4-guy Northumberland cobleboat on the shipwreck while she steered. In 1843, poet William Wordsworth had written a verse immortalizing her deed entitled, Grace Darling.
