Grace Beacham Freeman

American poet, author, and one-time SC Poet Laureate whose works include Midnight to Dawn rather than Set in Rock. She also published tv and radio dramas and released articles in various southern papers. She received a qualification in British from Converse University, where she also majored in Latin and theater. She published a family-oriented newspapers column known as “At THE HOUSE” through the 1950s and ’60s. She wedded John Alderman Freeman, a zoology teacher. The couple elevated four kids. She analyzed with Wayne Dickey, whose composing workshop greatly affected her poetic design.
