Glenn Murcutt


Receiver of the 1992 Alvar Aalto Medal, the 2002 Pritzker Prize, and this year’s 2009 AIA Silver Medal. His building tasks included the Berowra Waters Inn, the Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Artwork Centre, as well as the Kempsey Visitor Details Centre. He examined structures at Sydney Techie University, where he graduated in 1961. His classmates included such potential notables as movie director Jim Sharman, theater developer Brian Thompson, and film manufacturer Matt Carroll. His motto was “Contact the Earth gently”; he designed structures to fit in to the landscaping, utilizing glass, rock, timber, and metal. His Australian parents had been surviving in London when he was created. They elevated him within the Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. His kid, Nicholas, also became an architect. He examined structures in Australia, where celebrity Nicole Kidman was created.
