Georgia Douglas Johnson

Between 1916 and 1962, this Harlem Renaissance author published four selections of poetry and over two dozen takes on. Her most widely known functions include “Phoning Dreams,” “To Your Eye,” and Plumes. After graduating from the standard College at Atlanta University or college, she analyzed music at Ohio’s Oberlin Conservatory. She released her 1st poetry collection, The Center of a female, in 1916. A lot of her poems had been released in W.E. DuBois’ The Problems journal. She grew up in Georgia as an associate of a family group of BLACK and Local American history. Her relationship to lawyer Henry Lincoln Johnson led to sons called Peter and Henry. She was among the couple of women whose function was anthologized in Harlem Renaissance writer Alain Locke’s function Takes on of Negro Existence: A Source-Book of Local American Drama.
