George Tooker

Painter connected with Public Realism and Magic Realism and known for such functions seeing that “Subway” in 1950 and “Federal government Bureau” in 1956. He examined English books at Harvard School and briefly became a member of the Sea Corps before participating in the Art Learners League of NY. He was students of Reginald Marsh and Kenneth Hayes Miller. He received the Country wide Medal of Arts in 2007. He was created and elevated in Brooklyn Heights and Bellport, NY. His dad, George Clair Tooker, was Anglo/French-American, and his mom, Angela Montejo Roura, was British/Spanish-Cuban. He was the longtime partner of musician William R. Christopher. He and Joan Mitchell both became well-known modernist painters.
